Nids and Futuristic Vampires

Well I made a trip down to Hulls Angels last night and had my self some games.

First off I played a 1500pts battle against Gideon's Tyranids. Was pitched battle deployment with three objectives to scrap over. I don't have the full details of what i faced, but it included a Trygon which to be perfectly honest I was rather worried about.
I took Chief Librarian Tigurius, a Chaplain, 20 Tactical marines, 2 Razorbacks, 10 Assault marines, 5 Terminators, a Vindicator, a Whirlwind and a Predator.
First few turns saw the Predator immobilise its self on a wall (WOO driving skills), the entire assault squad with the chaplain got wiped in a single round of combat with the Trygon and some horrible flying do-whats(I forget their name, but they are nasty). The only thing I managed to do during this time was nullify all psychic attacks made by the nids with the Hood of Hellfire, which was about 6 attacks/powers, and make my way to one of the objectives, right by the edge of the board on my right hand side, with Varo and his combat squad.
By turn three I was less than optimistic about a win, then my terminators arrived.... they chewed through a warrior squad like they weren't there, then took down a Ravener squad, by this point they had lost 2 men but were still three strong and kept moving. They finally came to an end when they met the Trygon, but not before leaving it with only one wound remaining.
Whilst the Terminators were chewing up units left right and centre I got flanked by two squads of Genestealers coming on from my right board edge, one in to combat with Varo and the combat squad he was attached to and  the other in to combat with my Whirlwind. The whirlwind ended up a wreck but the other Genestealers didn't fair too well, they only killed one marine, and then got wiped by a mix of heavy unsaved wounds and then being run down when fleeing.
After this the second Genestealer squad got wiped by bolter fire from two combat squads. This left Gideon with no troops, and there fore no points, and I had one point in my control, if he wanted to win he had to go for the wipe, which didn't seem very possible by this stage.
To secure a win I downed the Trygon with a bolter round, took out the flying do-whats (really cant remember their name) with a mix of bolters and Varo using smite and that was all that was needed really.
By the end of the game Gideon had 2 Hive guard and 1 Zoanthrope and no captured points and I had 2 Razorbacks, Varo, 11 Tactical marines,  my Vindicator and 1 point captures to secure a win for the Ultramarines.

The second game was played against Kenny and his Vampire Mar..I mean Blood Angels.
It was a 1000pts battle with dawn of war deployment and 3 objectives.
He took a captain with a jet pack, thunder hammer and storm shield, 20 Assault marines and 20 Tactical marines.
I took a Chaplain, 10 Assault marines, 20 Tactical Marines, 2 Razobacks, a Vindicator and a Whirlwind.
It didn't look good for Kenny what with all the template weapons to bring the pain to infantry, but then he won the roll to go first, and that's when it all went wrong. He got to deploy the Assault troops right on the objectives in the middle of the board, and move at will, I then moved on from my board edge and hoped.
The first shots from the Vindicator and Whirlwind took out 8 Assault marines from the squad attached to the Captain, and then little else happened. After this the Captained jumped over and took out my Vindicator and the last two assault marines from his squad attacked one of my combat squads that was near by killing them off. After this his other assault squad jumped my assault squad and Chaplain, the combat ended up in a draw.
The Captain and the remaining men from his Assault squad went on to take out both combat squads in the area, and also the whirlwind before the assault marines finally died and then the captain got squashed in a death or glory run in with a razorback.
My Assault marines and Chaplain got obliterated in the next combat phase, and the second razorback and its combat squad got smashed also.
To cut a long, and painful, story short I got wiped in the end and Kenny took the Victory, and congratulations to him.

Always a pleasure playing both Kenny and Gideon, and as always my victories and losses have taught me a lot, so thanks a lot guys.

I would also like to express my sincere apologies to Glamage who came down to show me the basics of Warmachine but couldn't because my game against Gideon took much longer than expected. Sorry to waste your time, hope to arrange something again soon, and I wont plan anything else for that night. =]
